You ever notice how privileged idiots always assume the worst jobs take forever? Like, they think latrine duty is some grueling, all-day punishment. Truth is, if you know what you’re doing, it takes half the time they think it does. Maybe less. A little planning, the right tools, and not standing around whining about it like some first-day recruit, and it’s done before breakfast. Of course, I don’t correct them. If they want to believe I’m suffering, fine. Gives me more time for important things—like reading.
This week’s haul:
-
"The Twin Empires: A History of Gurubashi and Amani Dominance" – Some dusty old scholar wrote this, but it’s solid. Troll wars before we were even a thought. Explains a lot about why the Amani still hold a grudge. Also makes me wonder how much of our own history will be lost or rewritten in a few hundred years.
-
"An Account of Strom’s Founding" – Dry as day-old hardtack, but at least it covers our side of things. The way it paints Thoradin as this unstoppable force is a bit much, but I guess every nation needs its heroes. Lot of little details about the Arathi bloodlines, though. Makes me wonder if any of these big noble houses today are just clinging to old names with no real claim.
-
"The Elements and the Orders: A Treatise on Azeroth’s Primordial Forces" – Not the lightest read, but fascinating. Explains how the shamans and mages clash in their views of elemental power. Makes me wonder if half the fighting in history could’ve been avoided if people stopped thinking their way was the only way.
They’ll probably throw me on something else next, but whatever it is, I’ll manage. As long as it gives me time to read, I won’t complain. Much.
